Behind the Scenes
Lighting is more than just getting proper exposure. Lighting is an artistic endeavor. Lighting determines your F-stop which in turn determines your depth of field; therefore proper lighting not only makes the lighting look better, but every other aspect of the image as well.
Many times when shooting digitally people over look lighting. They figure if they can see the subject then it's lit. Good lighting calls the viewers attention to where it needs to be and tells them what is important. Good lighting creates depth, a sense of space, a sense of time, and a sense of importance. It is the difference between a flat boring image and an image that has shape and beauty to it. Television and film are a two dimensional medium, lighting is what gives a flat image, on a screen, life.
Outerworld loves lighting! Andrew has lit for product photography, interview settings, documentary settings, a short horror film, and a feature film.
